As Jeff has pointed out, the notion of multiplicity of possession is a gnostic notion. But NOTs may have a far more immediate source which certainly seems to knock out any Trade Secret aspect. Would be researchers into this might search out a copy of Thirty Years Among the Dead, published by the National Psychological Institute Inc (a spiritualist group, as the title shows, ahem), in 1924 (2nd edition) and authored by Carl A Wickland, M.D.: "Lacking physical bodies through which to carry out earthly propensities many discarnated intelligences are attracted to the magnetic light which emanates from mortals, and, consciously or unconsciously, attach themselves to these magnetic auras, finding an avenue of expression through influencing, obsessing or possessing human beings." (p.5). Wickland provides quite a history of such loopy notions, including contributions by psychs (from whence of course derive most of Il Ron's notions). At p.148 we find Wickland asking the Standard Tech question of all exorcists of the poor BT: what is your name? Of course the great refinement of the NOTs technique was to change this to those marvellous invokations - what are you? and who are you? -- --****ATTENTION****--****ATTENTION****--****ATTENTION****--***ATTENTION*** Your e-mail reply to this message WILL be *automatically* ANONYMIZED.
