My Moxon-o-gram
[03 Jun 1998]

I received this in my email today. I have a hard time believing this is really Moxon. After all, it doesn't make sense that he'd send an email for a legal matter.

I received this in my email today. I have a hard time believing this is really
Moxon. After all, it doesn't make sense that he'd send an email for a legal
matter. He's a lawyer, he knows better. Could anyone check these headers (which
follow the mail, in AOL style) to see if they are forged?

Thanks!

Dear Ms. Kates:

At a time when you were acting for the Church of Scientology of
Pennsylvania, you received a copy of the Church's mailing list of
parishioners for the purpose of inputting it into a computer for the
Church's use. Thereafter, you renounced membership in the Church, and
purported to return the mailing list.

This is to formally put you on notice that any retention of the mailing
list constitutes theft, conversion and potentially other crimes and
torts. Provision of the list or any part of it to third parties not
authorized to receive the list also constitutes conversion, conspiracy
and other crimes and torts.

Please affirm that: 1) all copies of the mailing list have been
returned to the Church; 2) you have no ability to recover the mailing
list from any computer hardware in your possession, custody or control;
and 3) you have not provided the list or any portion thereof to any
third party not authorized by the Church.

My client takes this matter seriously. If you have violated any of the
Church's rights with respect to the mailing list by providing it to a
third party, please mitigate the damage by immediately recovering the
list and all copies thereof, and returning it to the Church. Failure to
do so will demonstrate knowing and willful conduct on your part. Please
contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kendrick L. Moxon
