The criminal cult of scientology and their battery of lawyers and
perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars in litigation funds have
declared war on the net and criticism of their scam.
  L. Ron Hubbard's policy is that all "enemies" are "fair game" and
may be "tricked, sued, lied to or destroyed."
Some of us are fighting this criminal cult by collecting quotations
that expose the cartoon cosmology and other true nature of this
criminal cult for all to see.

I am soliciting authentic scientology material under the fair use
doctrine of the U.S. Copyright code.

Please send material to me at grady@netcom.com.

To all the people from all over the 'Net that have flocked to
a.r.s. lately I say a hearty welcome to the show! Read about the
"Church" of $cientology and their scam, their methods and their greed.
Read about their attempts to harass/intimidate/threaten all opponents,
or indeed everyone who is perceived as being an opponent. Then call
your congressman. Ask him/her to look into it. Boycott
$cientology-related companies. Keep track of them. And help stamp out
Co$. And don't forget that Co$ isn't only the clowns that speak for
them here on a.r.s. If it was there would be no problem. But Co$ is a

The fun and games paled in front of Grady Ward's report that he had been
visited by two Scientologists on Friday, April 14th. It was the first time
that a non-Scientologist detractor who had started reading a.r.s after the
Dennis Erlich raid had been so visited.

Two scientologists paid a visit to our house today in Arcata.
Ray and Jack Keras(?) identified themselves as Scientologists
to my wife who immediately asked them to leave the property.

Jack -- who had driven up from San Francisco did the talking
while Ray stayed out of sight around the corner of the house.

They stayed at the door and repeated that they wanted to talk
to me so I called 911.

It took about fifteen minutes for the police to arrive and
by that time the two scientologists left. [My wife first
saw Ray as he walked back to his car with Jack.]

(Each came in separate cars; the SF guy (Jack) came in a late
model dark green Honda; Ray left in a 70's El Camino.)

While I was making the report to Officer Bob Murphy, Ray
returned and talked to the officer for a few minutes
(I went back into the house at this time so as to
avoid being IDed by Ray). Ray turned out to be the local
airport manager.)

Since they didn't leave when asked I'm filing a misdemeanor
trespassing charge against them and, since they identified
themselves as from the Church of Scientology, I am filing
for a restraining order against the entire criminal cult
as soon as the the district attorney's office opens Monday.

I also got many high quality photos of both people and their
automobiles.

The local Officer Murphy was a little fuzzy about scientology
so I gave him a photocopy of the TIME article "Thriving Cult
of Greed and Power" to help educate him.

I'm flattered that some OSA guy would make the 5 hour auto
trip from SF to tell me about their criminal cult, but I'm
afraid a copy of the restraining order will take a lot
less time to be faxed and send via certified mail to Kobrin
and the other principals.

I could not find Jack, but Ray was located in Arcata and I
asked him what happened. What follows is his version of what
occurred:

Jack, a Scientologist from San Francisco apparently wanted to
discuss matters connected with Internet with Grady Ward and to try and
clear the air with him. Jack looked up the names of Scientologists
in Arcata where Grady lives and found Ray, who has lived there for
many years. Jack asked Ray to accompany him to visit Grady to try
and calmly discuss the situation with him.

They went to Grady's house but were met with hostility from Mrs.
Ward who could not open the door nor would she get Grady to come to
the door so that Jack and Ray could talk with him. Ray and Jack let
Mrs. Ward know that they just wanted to talk.

Jack, who did the talking, identified himself to Mrs. Ward and
stated that he was a Scientologist who merely wanted to discuss the
Internet with Grady. She was still upset and said she was going to
call 911 for the police. She made this threat several times (still
without opening the door) while Jack tried to explain that he meant
them no harm and wished to talk. Ray and Jack were told by Mrs.
Ward to get off the property which they did.

Ray and Jack didn't know if they should wait for the police or
wait to see if Grady would finally come out so they waited on the
sidewalk. Grady never came out and the police didn't arrive, so
after about 10 minutes, they left.

Jack drove back to San Francisco.

Ray went back to Grady's street and saw Grady talking with a
police officer. Ray saw Grady motioning for Ray to come over, so
Ray stopped his car and went over to explain that he and Jack had
simply wanted to talk with Grady. Upon seeing Ray come over however,
Grady excitedly told the police officer that Ray had now identified
him and he dashed back into his house, leaving Ray and Mrs. Ward to
talk with the police officer.

Ray explained the situation to the police officer i.e. that he
had been asked by Jack, who he had just met, to accompany him to see
Grady so that he could rationally discuss the situation concerning
Internet with him. Ray left the police officer his business card and
that was about all that happened. The police officer was satisfied
that nothing untoward was happening and Mrs. Ward seemed to have
calmed down. Grady would not discuss the matter in person.

Ray assured me that he and Jack were going to see Grady to try
and improve relations with him.

I find it ludicrous that such a big advocate of the first amendment
like Grady would act like a scared rabbit and hide behind his wife
when someone comes to his door to have a rational discussion.

I have sent the police officer concerned a copy of What is Scientology
so that he can have the correct information on the Church.

I speculate that the (OSA?) guy from SanFrancisco (Jack) was on
an intelligence gathering mission: what kind of person and house,
perimeter, apparent wealth, kind of family, obvious alarms or dogs,
how telephone service gets to house, etc etc etc.

You'd be surprised at the amount of stuff you can get in a
"routine" visit. I doubt the local criminal cult member, Ray,
had anything to do with the plan except act as backup to Jack.

I'll provide more details (case number, etc) as they become
available. I'm faxing the police station a couple of newspaper
articles (Los Angeles Times series part 6) to add to the TIME
article.

While I've briefed a few of my key neighbors (read: the "networked" ones)
I'll go around again with copies of the articles and my story
to back up my previous alert.

trespasses after I get the restraining order. Then it will be a felony.

Are you kidding? The criminal cult of scientology is just a warmup
for the real battle for us, which is the SB 652 (was 314) and others
of its ilk.

So -- you chicken-shit coward -- what is your real name, address,

What a joke. You paint everything, including an honest attempt to
meet with you in person without the vias of going through a computer,
as an "intelligence gathering mission". Don't you think that if
they wanted to gather intelligence, they would just hire some private
investigator rather than go and knock on your door?

I think you hide behind your computer too much and are seeing a false
picture of the world around you.

And just what good would that do. I think it is clear what your
position is and what you are doing on the net. I don't think anyone
is stupid enough to think that finding out about your dog, your wife
and so on is going to change how you are acting. Perhaps meeting
someone live might get you to realize that Scientologists are also
individuals and not demons which you obviously are trying to make
them out to be. They are actually very friendly and are willing
to build understanding between people. You sit there behind your
computer scared to death, dreaming up things about people you have
never even met.

Just more garbage that we will sort out with them. I don't suppose
the fact that Time Magazine and its author are being sued over the
libelous article which they printed has come to your attention has it?
You are good at the black PR.

Wake up and smell the coffee. There is a real world out there Grady
and it isn't the one you are looking at.

Ward,

Wgy didn't you ask them what they wanted? Had to hide behind
your wife?

I thought you were the king of wide-open communication?

You become a chicken-man when a real live person is in front
of you?

Come on Ward - grow a spine. You might even learn something
if you could confront talking to anything other than your
computer screen!

What a man you have shown yourself to be.

After Grady reported his raid, Martin Hunt noted that the CoS had used materials seized in the Dennis Erlich raid to get unlisted information about himself.

When the cult sent data to the Victoria police, including my (unlisted)
phone number, they broke the law. It seems that my phone number was
obtained from the material seized from Dennis Erilich's house over the
(supposed) copyright infringement (suit.)

This was misappropriation of seized data.

Daniel Davidson posted an update on the resolution of his encounter with his university. He presented a file of evidence on the activities on a.r.s to the administration.

Subject: Round-up of my Student Discipline meeting

Message-ID: <3mp70v$aas@news.csus.edu>

My meeting with the Vice President/Discipline Officer was in a
sense a University no-show. There was nothing to talk about,
from the University's perspective, because they considered the
charge baseless on its face.

We agreed that the unsubstantiated email from Kobrin claiming
copyright violations constituted "unsubstantiated charges of
undemonstrated violations".

I had, however, brought along a clear, well documented sheaf
of indexed papers, laying out the history and actions of all
parties involved. I included lots of neat background on Co$ --
not too much, just the right amount... and articles on
academic perspectives on Internet policy, the Encheferized
text so loved and cherished here, among others.

And of course, the letters y'all took the time to write,
presenting a really remarkable collection of people and ideas.

The University was, however, very concerned that my Internet
account had not been terminated due to Kobrin's unverified
email, and without due process. As it turned out, I had
noticed no unusual trouble, though there is always some
trouble at this site :). They seemed to think I had been
kicked off...

Anyway, I got specific assurance that there would be 0, nil,
none, zip, zero, nada trace of any sort in any way of anything
connected with this event anywhere in my public or private
record. I also obtained a complete copy of all documents in
the case file. A few interesting things there...

And, I was promised a letter stating that I was not charged
with any wrong doing. I received this letter last week. Before
it arrived, I sent the following letter to my sysop, Cc: to
the whole chain of command above him.

Mr. True has never responded to any of the three or four
emails I have sent him.

One last thing. Out of all the letters sent on my behalf, a
single email missive was abusive. The account where this email
originated was very soon terminated. If anyone ever sends
abusive, obscene or harassing to anyone with reference to me,
I will immediately proceed accordingly, under the law.

Following is the email I sent to San Francisco State University.

______________________ begin email __________________

John True

On 17 March, you notified me that you had filed charges against
me for the violation of Student Conduct Code (Title 5, California
Code of Regulations.)

In an email message which I sent after reading your charge,
I asked you upon what evidence did you base this charge.

I presume you do not file Student Discipline Charges without
substantive evidence of wrong doing.

My personal and profesional standing have been put into question
by your charge. The damage done to my reputation is, I feel,
made tangible by your filing of Student Discipline Charges against me.

As you did not respond to my request on 17 March, I am compelled to ask
you once again: Upon what evidence did you file charges against me?

It is in my interest to put this matter to rest. Having charges filed
against me is not a matter I take lightly, as I'm sure you can understand.

In addition to the question of what evidence you based your filing of
Student Disciplinary Charges, I request, and feel I deserve, some
statement of resolution from you or from San Francisco State University
concerning these charges. If the charges you filed against me have
been proved unfounded and untrue, I would appreciate receiving a statement,
in writing, attesting to this.

Thus, I request some statement from you or from the University that I did
not in fact violate Title 5, California Code of Regulations, as you
charged me with.

With the receipt of such a statement detailing my vindication
and the withdrawal of all Charges made against me, based on the facts,
I will consider this matter closed.

Sincerely,

Daniel Davidson

It's most appropriate to end up with a post from Dennis Erlich, whose plight brought many of us to a.r.s., and who is still being assaulted on all sides by the CoS.

              +---------------------------------+

Faithful Reader (or new friend):

I am Dennis Erlich, that person who had his house raided and his
computer ransacked by the "Church" of Scientology. Knowing the
scienos as I do, I would expect them to escalate their dirty
trick campaign against me ... and they have.

Today I went to draw out $100 from my account. I was denied
access to my money. I was going to buy some pickling cucumbers
at the ranch market and had no cash.

I raced over to my branch and was told that there was a levy on
my account for $40,028.86. They had no further information to
give me.

By sheer persistance and a number of phone calls, I got the
information faxed to me.

My ex-wife, working in concert with the scientology program
directed to silence me speaking out against the cult, had gotten
a San Diego judge to issue the levy without ever notifying me.
The Dan Diego Sheriff's Dept. had gotten the LA County sheriffs
to serve my bank (Bank of America). The bank, without even the
courtesy of a phone call (they have my number) locked my account
for transfer on Monday. I had $1500. Gone.

Oh, and by the way, my ex-wife's new husband is an ex-San Diego
County Sheriff.

While my wife may have a claim to some back payment, it should be
perportional to the rights I have been denied as a father. In
violation of our divorce, she has denied me *any* communication
with my daughter, Holly (whom I love dearly) for the last 8 or 9
years.

I need to know how to block the stripping of my megre assets
without my side of the story being heard.

Can they come and take my computer, my guitar, my tv? Is there
now way to make the bank hold off til I can argue my side to the
judge?

If you can give me any advice, please e-mail me. I need good
advice.
