Look what was in *my* Christmas stocking--right next to the garter! (Honey,
it's still *warm*!)

The Christmasey card that was attached said that the secret admirer who
tucked it into my silk stocking had it come across their FAX machine
unsolicited, and who knows *who* let it get out originally. *I* sure don't.
Maybe somebody at Bridge?

Well, anyway, it sure seems like something that could be useful to any
unsuspecting bookbuyers out there who might have bought a book they
*thought* was written solely by a certain author, only to find out that
they had been *mistaken* somehow.

Since *I* got it as a present, I'm passing it along in the Christmas
spirit! Here's the letter:

Dear Mark,

We have received a few complaints from customers regarding two books
published by Bridge Publications, Inc. that we need to bring to your
attention. The issue pertains to Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought
and Scientology: A New Slant on Life, both of which are carried in our
stores. The callers suggest that these books are not actually written by L.
Ron Hubbard as we were told when the books were presented to us and as is
clearly indicated on the book covers. Given your long track record
publishing titles by L. Ron Hubbard, we are confident that the books are
what they appear to be, but we also feel obligated to our customers to ask
that you confirm these claims have no merit. We appreciate you clarifying
this for us, as we would not want to misrepresent these books to our
customers in any way.

Well, there you are! I hope some of you can put this to good use!

I wonder what Bridge said in reply? Wonder, wonder wonder? Is there anybody
out there from Bridge who could fill us in? *I* sure would like to know
what the answer is.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

-<The ARSCC Librarian>

P.S.-To Bridge people. If you're going to tell us what you told Barnes &
message FIRST! Otherwise, it could get, well, *awfully* embarrasing. Did
you guys sell *lots* of these books for Christmas? I sure *hope* you did!
Stats up?
