ATTENTION RESEARCH SECTION
[BLACKED OUT] attorney, [BLACKED OUT] on 8-21-56 contacted SA [BLACKEDOUT]
and advised that a female client, who prefers to remain anonymous, had
received the original of the enclosed letter accidentally and believed
that it indicated possible CP interest on the part of the addressee,
[BLACKED OUT] [BLACKEDOUT] advised that his client had come to him for
advice on the matter.
[BLACKED OUT] made available a photorecord copy of the original letter
which is furnished to the Bureau for information.
It is the recollection of SA [BLACKED OUT] that a science fiction writer
by the name of HUBBARD several years ago received wide publicity over his
discovery of a new "science" of the mind which he termed "dianetics". It
is also the recollection of SA [BLACKED OUT] that the medical profession
at the time scoffed at "dianetics" as a form of quackery.
