This is a Security Check everybody in Scientology has to take before they can hold trusted positions. Personal information revealed from this security check is stored by the "church" and ex-members say the information there may be used against you if you ever quit.

Rigged up to a E-Meter the Scientologist is asked these questions. The auditor notes the reactions on the needle.

You may note the questions are a bit.... what shall one call it?

The auditor is looking for reactions from past lifes. If you ever caused a planet to dissappear or committed murder, the needle on the E-meter will show a reaction. Remember that the E-meter is a very crude lie detector. The idea is to prosess each question until the E-meter shows no reaction. Then you are Clear.

The trance some get in during auditing is often compared to as some sort of hypnosis. And what do you know, Hubbard was practising hypnosis in his earlier days. In this state they start producing memories of past lifes, also called tha false memory syndrom. Some false memories are so strong people start believing in them.
