[Report as posted to ARS June 30 1997 by Andreas Heldal-Lund] ---- As you already know Magne Berge won his lawsuit against Co$ in Norway. He was awarded 600.000 kroner (about 100.000 US$) and Co$ had to pay all legal costs. With interest and extra costs because of the appeals I would guess it came close to 1 million kroner in the end. Everybody here wondered if Co$ would go broke since the Oslo org have no money, or if other orgs would help them out. Now we know the answer: Co$ in Copenhagen (Denmark) payed the bill! Magne Berge is now at least free of dept. I believe this will motivate other victims of $cientology to try to get their money back, the verdict in Norway could be helpfull at least in other Scandinavian countries. So let's cheer them all to the stand, now it's payback time for Co$!!! :-)))) Another interesting fact is that if they ever loose in Norway or Sweden, it means one could go straight for the big org in Copenhagen! Now it don't even matter if they fake bankruptcy, they would have to close Copenhagen too then. This could become interesting.... I've heard no news from Kobrin, but this note was entered in the guestbook at Clambake today: Message #4 (07:44 30/06-97) Name/Nick: Helena Kobrin, Esq. "I, Helena Kobrin, hereby reject and renounce Scientology as my lord and savior, and accept the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ as the only true salvation for mankind. Furthermore, I hereby acknowledge the mental sexual abuse brought about by L. Ron Hubbard, including but not limited to his teachers, followers and others who continue to promote his teachings. I am free, once and for all. Amen." Since I can't check who writes what in my guestbook I have no idea who wrote it, but I must admit it would have made me happy if it were true. And I'm not even a Christian. :) We have to be positive, as long as there are kobrinograms there is hope...
